ABOUT ME
Sydney Cymone Bellamy. I am a powerful broadcast journalism student attending Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, originally from Atlanta. Since an infant, my dad would prop me up in front of the TV to watch football, which was my introduction to sports. Due to neurosurgery at six months, my parents advised against me playing sports, but this barrier didn’t deter my soon to-be discovered dream. After joining the yearbook club amongst many clubs in high school, I discovered my love for writing was just as strong as my love for speaking. I am living proof of the saying “Never meet a stranger”. My desire to pursue the sports broadcasting career came easily to me as it married the three things I love: speaking + sports + writing. I immediately hit the ground running, being a sponge at FAMU, soaking in everything the University has to offer.
I’ve gained experience in radio, TV (in-front & behind the camera), and writing. I joined FAMU Athletics doing public announcing for the softball and baseball games, and writing scripts for football games, which then transferred into joining the marketing and game operations department. Through my internships with the Florida State Capitol, The Hidden Gym ATL, USTA, and World News Tonight, I’ve remained focused on my goals.
Outside of journalism, I am a dedicated, hands-on leader around campus and the community. Through my various roles, I am steadfast in my mission to create a comfortable environment which in turn allows me the opportunity to tell stories in a receptive way.
